Isn’t Christianity is false, because…

  • Jesus never existed
  • The Bible is just a book of myths written by men
  • Nothing supernatural can happen
  • Paul created Christianity
  • Etc., etc. etc.

When Christian’s asset their faith is true, most unbelievers rightly ask for an explanation why their assertions are true.

When challenged with assertions, Christians tend to try and reply with a meaningful answer.  But why should Christians give reasonable answers to unreasonable assertions?  Often times the objections people raise are just smokescreens used to avoid their real root issues with Christianity.  Any assertion should be replied to with a simple “why?”  You’ll be surprised what little information people commonly have to back up their assertions.

Unfortunately, the same can be said for most Christians.  It does not have to be this way.  With a little effort, every Christian can be able to at least explain (not just asset) the basics of the faith.  My Why Jesus study, available for free in the sidebar, makes this easy.

  • Why is Jesus necessary for salvation?  Lessons 1 & 2.
  • Why and how to share and defend my faith?  Lessons 3,4, & 5.

1 Peter 3:15  Always be ready to give an answer for the hope you have within you, but do so with gentleness and respect.

Why only love Jesus and not the Father and Mother too?

Listening to a talk show the other day, a caller made this remark about the above bumper sticker: “I don’t see why some Christians only love Jesus and not the Father and Mother too.”

Answer:

  1. Loving Jesus is loving the Father.

John 14:9-11  Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father ; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?  10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.  11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.”

2.  Scripture does not speak of “the Mother.”  I guess they were speaking of Mary the mother of Jesus.  But she is not God, not part of the Trinity, and there is no biblical reason to make Mary into something she is not.

Jesus the son of God or IS God?

Question:

Christians deny that Jesus Christ is the son of God, that he IS God. How can you be the Son of someone else and someone else at the same time. What then, does this mean in the Bible? From St John:

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34 And I saw, and bare arecord that this is the SON OF GOD

My Answer:

John 10: 30 “I and the Father are one.” 31 The Jews picked up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?” 33 The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but for blasphemy, because you, being a man, make yourself God.”

So here we have Jesus as Son and God and the original audience’s reaction.

Understanding the bible, or any literature, requires understanding the cultural, historical, linguistic, and religious contexts.
