Why doesn’t God materialize and openly reveal Himself?

He did so: Jesus Christ.

But what about God materializing to every person individually?

Luke 16:27-31  And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, to send him to my father’s house— 28 for I have five brothers—so that he may warn them, lest they also come into this place of torment.’ 29 But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

  1. God does not need to.  Do people reject all other well known historical figures because they have not personally materialized to them?  Where’s the consistency?
  2. God is not required to.  He has given enough light (Moses, the Prophets, and Jesus).
  3. It may not matter.  Even if God materialized to everyone, that does not mean all would repent.

James 2:19  “You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!”

Luke 13:3  [Jesus] “No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”

I’m not ready to follow Jesus / It’s not worth it

If a person saved nothing for retirement that could, we’d call that foolish.  The person could protest that to save for retirement would require them to give up some things that they want now.  But what’s the big picture?

Mark 8:36  “What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?”

James 4:14  “…What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.”

Philippians 3:8  “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.”

The pleasures of the world are rubbish compared to the eternal riches of knowing Christ.
