Have you read every holy book?

How can you claim the Bible is true when you haven’t read through every holy book in the world?  Maybe one of them is true?

Answer

Truth is not determined by reading false ideas.  Truth is what equals the facts and everything contradicting the truth is false.  If one determines the bible to be true, reading contradictory truth claims is not necessary to claim the bible’s validity.
Note: To be open minded and informed, I have read the works of the major world religions and cults.  I still find the bible to be true.  Why not read it for yourself?

Did Jesus bear our sins on the cross?

2 Corinthians 5:21 – “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

1 Peter 3:18 – “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.”

Romans 3:23-26 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”

Galatians 3:13-14 – “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Isaiah 53:4-6 – “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

Isaiah 53:10 – “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.”

Is Christianity a license to sin?

According to the once saved – aways saved / eternal security doctrine, isn’ t this a license to sin?
Answer
The question is, “Who is saved?”
Luke 13:3  No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

No repentance, no salvation.

Matthew 7:21 Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

What’s the Father’s will according to Christian doctrine? Two are:

  1. The Greatest Commandment, Matthew 22:37 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
  2. John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”

It’s similar to personal relationships.  People who intentionally hurt you and don’t care don’t love you.  The point of Christianity is to love God.  No love – no repentance – no obedience – no salvation.
