Christ

Don’t we all believe in the same Jesus?

No.  Just referring to the name ‘Jesus’ and meaning to refer to the Jesus Christ of ancient history does not make is so.  Many are believing in a ‘jesus’ of their own making or someone else’s.  This is forbidden by the First Commandment.

Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me.

Consider the Following Orthodox Christians believe:

  1. Jesus is one with the Father.
  2. Jesus has always existed as God and does not have a wife.
  3. Lucifer is a fallen angel and is not a brother in any way to Jesus.

Mormons believe:

  1. Jesus is a god, one of many, a separate being from the Father.
  2. Jesus came into being when the Father had relations with his wife.
  3. Jesus and Lucifer are spirit brothers.

I asked two Mormon missionaries who were visiting with me in my home, based on this comparison, if we were talking about the same Jesus.  They admitted the obvious: no. To learn more about the real Jesus, get my Why Jesus study for free in the sidebar.

What is an ex-Christian?

Romans 8:16  The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

According to this verse, true Christians not only believe in God, but know Him.  Not all who claim to know God actually do.

James 2:19 “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”

If false prophets are rejected by Jesus, how much more will those who outright deny Him.

Matthew 10:13  “but whoever denies me [Jesus] before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.”

People who abandon their faith prove they never knew and loved Jesus.  According to the evangelical pastors I’ve polled, about 40% of evangelical church members are only Christians in profession, but not in possession.

Why do Christians insist Jesus is the only way?

What other religions do this?

Answer

  1. Most religions say their faith is the only way as well.
  2. Most other religions say salvation can be earned by good works.
  3. Christians believe we’re guilty of breaking God’s law and no amount of good works can pay God off.  That’s why Jesus paid our penalty (death) by his crucifixion and conquered death by his resurrection.
